Ficksburg - Cherry Festival - November 2011

Ficksburg in the Free State Highlands has been host to the annual Cherry Festival for 43 years. The 44th version of the Cherry Festival is scheduled for Thursday to Saturday 17th to 19th November 2011.

The annual Cherry Festival is the longest running harvest festival in South Africa and every year it seems that the organisers find new ways of staying out in front when it comes to customer satisfaction.

The program for 2011 has not yet been released but if previous years are anything to by, those lucky enough

The Cape Town International Kite Festival on 22 and 23 October 2011 is at the scenic grounds of Zandvlei Recreation Park in Muizenberg.

The international Kite Festival, hosted by Cape Mental Health is now in its 17th year. The festival is a great tourist attraction and a family event not to be missed.

The International Kite Festival attracted over 24 000 visitors last year including overseas competitive professional kiters, who show off with all types of stunt and artistic kites turning the skies above Muizenberg in a cornucopia of moving colours.

There are competitions for flying hand made South African kites with entries closing on 7th October.

For the rest you can have a wonderful weekend either flying or just watching the kites as they prance in the sky over the seaside town of Muizenberg.

This year, 2011, is the 22nd Hantamvleisfees in Calvinia in the Great Karoo. The Hantamvleisfees is about a 400km drive from Cape Town and around the same distance from Upington. Calvinia is real sheep country and this one weekend a year the town and surrounding farmers celebrate the best of all red meat – good old Karoo Lamb.The winning recipe of the Hantamvleisfees is a simple one. Lots of local farmer associations offer all sorts of cuts of lamb, cooked in as many different ways as there are Boere Tannies. Mountain Bike Challenges

There are three Mountain Bike Challenge Routes available: 55km, 35km and 10km. All route participants can look forward to a scenic, yet challenging route through the Marloth Nature Reserve, situated at the foothills of the Langeberg Range. The routes include gravel roads, jeep tracks and roughly 4km of amazing single-track in the forest.

Hermanus - Kalfiefees August 2011

The 11th Hermanus Kalfiefees will be held from 4th August 2011 to 9th August 2011. The Hermanus Kalfiefees has become the definitive Art and Cultural event in the western Cape and attacts thousands of theatre lovers to the Whale Coast.

Hermanus - Whales 'n Wheels Classic Car Show - 2011

Hermanus Whale Festival 2011 has, as one of its highlights, the annual Whales and Wheels Classic Car Show organised by Hermanus Classic Cars.

The Hermanus Whale Festival's Whales and Wheels show is a full day of activities at Hermanus Primary School where over 300 veteran and vintage cars will be on both static and mobile display.

Virtually all the famous brands of yesteryear will be represented at Whales and Wheels and there is also a tractor and truck section. All this happens on the Saturday 1st October 2011starting at 09:00
