The T20 International between South Africa and Australia will be played at Newlands Cape Town on Thursday 13th October 2011. South Africa will be determined to demolish their favourite opposition and this opening game of the series is sure to be fully sold out. Tickets cost between R130 and R200.

The Hermanus Flower and Eco Fair takes place at Fernkloof Nature Reserve from Thursday 22nd September to Sunday 25th September 2011.

This year is the International Year Of Forests and Fernkloof Nature Reserve will be building around that theme for this years show.

The George Old Car Show hosted by the Southern Cape Old Car Club is scheduled for 11th and 12 February 2012. Every year the george Old Car Show attracts thousands of visitors and more and more exhibitors in what is today one of the best shows of its type.

The Southern Cape Old Car Club say on their website that the aim of the club is to assist in the acquisition, preservation, exhibition, maintenance and use of Veteran and Vintage motor vehicles

The Caledon Wild Flower Show takes place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th September 2011.

The Caledon Wild Flower Society was started way back in the late 1890's by three intrepid gentlemen who believed that the incredible variety of plant species in this part of the Overberg should be shared with everyone. The Caledon Wild Flower Show has grown from a small one day event into one of the major flower shows in the country with over 600 species carefully picked or moved to this incredible show.

World famous for the varietty of plants on display the Clanwilliam Wild Flower Show is a must see spectacle for both local and foreign tourists. Around 400 species of plants from 32 families are on show dependant on prevailing weather patterns in the lead up to the show. No two Clanwilliam flower shows are the same so you will always see something new and different. many of the flowers on show are to be found nowhere else in the world but around Clanwilliam. Calvinia is real sheep country and this one weekend a year the town and surrounding farmers celebrate the best of all red meat – good old Karoo Lamb.The winning recipe of the Hantamvleisfees is a simple one. Lots of local farmer associations offer all sorts of cuts of lamb, cooked in as many different ways as there are Boere Tannies. The Canon Gold Cup Horse race takes place on Saturday 31st July 2011. The venue for the Gold Cup is, as always, Greyville Racecourse in Durban. Twenty of the top long distance horses are entered for the Canon Gold Cup run over 3200m witha prize money of R1,000,000 up for grabs. There are two grey horses this year - No 17 Knight To Remember and No 16 Dolomite. The writer's choice (And i know nothing about horses) is No 1 Captain's Wild. Why? - He just looks the part.
