Durban - Blue Lagoon Bridge partial collapse

The Bridge carrying the M4 highway over Umgeni River at Blue Lagoon in Durban is in the news again. This time as a result of the side of the bridge (south bound) has collapsed and fallen into the river. The inner South Bound lane appears to closed at time of writing. Apparantly the footbridge section has fallen away for reasons unknown at this time.

Hermanus - Whale watching Season - 2012

The Southern Right Whales have arrived in Walker Bay for the 2012 Winter season. Last Monday at least 22 whales were spotted from the air in the Walker bay from Gansbaai through to Hermanus.

You can enjoy whale watching from the famous cliff path of Hermanus with it's many view sites from Grotto beach through to the New Harbour.

Prince Albert - Swartberg Pass Closed For Maintenance - June July 2012

The famous gravel road Swartberg Pass that connects Prince Albert to Oudtshoorn is closed from Mondays to Thursdays for essential maintenance. The Swartberg Pass is, however open over weekends to facilitate tourism in the area. While reconstruction is taking place motorists should exercise additional care.

The maintenance program will run for about 2 months starting on 4th June 2012.
