Betty's Bay - Harold Porter NBG Biodiversity Festival - May 2010

Harold Porter National Botanical Garden is hosting a four day Biodiversity Festival starting on Wednesday 26th May to Saturday 29th May 2010.

The Biodiversity Festival is being sponsored by Arabella Western Cape Hotel & Spa and Birdlife Overberg.SANBI (South African National Biodiversity Institute) and BirdLife Overberg are proud to present Biodiversity Festival 2010.


The project is being run in association with Arabella, who is sponsoring the transportation of school children to the venue and the presentation of lunch packs for these children.

 The Flight for Birders identification and conservation course will be held on 26 and 27 May. This is being done with a view to establishing a BirdLife South Africa infrastructure for the Kogelberg region between Arabella and Rooiels.

 The Biodiversity Festival will be held on 28 and 29 May and will include interesting lectures, exhibits, outings and hikes guided by both birders and plant experts, as well as programmes for learners. It will also feature the official opening of the new bird hide at Rooisands along the Botriver estuary at the Arabella Hotel.

 Participants in the Bird Course have free entrance to Harold Porter on the 26th and 27th May.

 There will be no entrance fee charged on Friday or Saturday 28th and 29th May.
