Foreign exchange transactions can be carried out at all major branches of South Africas leading banks as well as bureaux de change at most international entry points. Some Major International Hotels can also assist you in regard to foreign exchange.

When concluding foreign exchange transactions with other than a commercial bank be aware of counterfeit currency especially R200 notes

as South Africa has recently withdrawn an old series of R200 notes which were subject to widespread counterfeiting.

Most Credit Cards are accepted by the majority of  Vendors – Visa and Mastercard remain the most popular. Amex and Diners accepted at selected Vendors.

Foreign exchange can be effected by converting cash to plastic on arrival in South Africa.

10        Indian Rupee          R 1.57 You get 5 cents more than on 03/09
