The Blombosch Hiking Trail has expanded its offering and now has opened the “
Blombosch Birding Route has been located far away from other activity in the area so opportunities for spotting are plentiful. The first group of birders identified 48 species in less than a few hours, which gives an indication of the wonderful diversity of wildlife still present
on this stretch of the West Coast.
You could possibly see, among the many species in the area, some of these birds - Blue Crane, Black Harrier, Southern Black Korhaan,

To Get to Blombosch Birding Route
From Bloubergstrand go north on the R27 towards Vredenburg. Turn left onto the R315 to Yzerfontein. At around 3km watch for the sign to Blombosch on your right. Blombosch is just less than 4km on this gravel road.
From Malmesbury take the R315 through Darling towards Yzerfontein. From the intersection with the R27 follow the directions to Blombosch as above.
From Langebaan take oostewal Road to the R27. Turn right onto the R27 and travel south for just over 37km. At the intersection with the R315 turn right to Yzerfontein and follow directions to Blombosch as above.
While in the area stop at the Lime Kilns on the R315, or take a drive to Mamre Mission Village
