The Darling Music Experience celebrates it's fifth anniversary this coming February and the organisers have put together a truly fine program of classical and popular music that will cater for all who have a love for music.

The busy schedule kicks of on Thursday 11th February 2010, at 12:00 with an intimate lunch hosted by German Concert Pianist Andreas Kern. Seats are limited for this exclusive function at Hilda's Kitchen, Groote Post. Andreas who is passionate about classical music will chat about his experience as a classical pianist. There's wine tasting as well. The price is R250 and booking is through Computicket.

CONCERT

On Friday 12th February 2010 the DME Festival Choir will perform from 18:30 outside the Old Manor House at Ormonde Wine Estate, Langfontein Road, in Darling. Admission is free but you need to bring your own chairs and blankets. The choir will present a wide range of popular secular and sacred choral works.
The concert is free.

PERFORMANCE

Also on Friday 12th, at 20:00 in the Presbyterian Church in Pastorie Street the Darling Music Experience will present their "Rising Stars" featuring award winning flutist Myles Roberts and Saxophonist Hamman Schoonwinkel who will perform works from amongst others Jules Demersseman, Pedro Iturralde, Philippe Gaubert, Francis Poulenc and Darius Milhard.
Admission: R100 per person and booking is through Computicket

FILM

On Saturday 13th February at 10:00 there is a free screening of "El Systema" at Evita se Perron in Arcadia Street. This award winning documentary covers the extraordinary success of the well known music education initiative in Venezuela.

CLASSIC LUNCH

On Saturday 13th February 2010 at 13:00 the Darling Musical Experience presents "Classic Lunch"
This is a wonderful combination of fine wine, wonderful food, classic music, and, to top it all, a beautiful view. Andreas Kern will lead you with music through an exclusive four course lunch prepared especially for today by Kwa ttu Chef Vivienne Pietersen.
Booking through Computicket and price is R350 per person.

CONCERT

Also on Saturday 13th February, at 16:00 is the
Musical Wine Tasting Concert at Ormonde Wine Estate, Langfontein Road, Darling
Admission is R100 per person and tickets are available at Computicket.
Bring chairs and your own picnic basket and enjoy this classic concert in the ambience of a summers afternoon with the DME Chamber Orchestra. Their programme includes Mozart: Eine kleine Nachtmusik; Vivaldi: Summer and Shostokowitsch: Waltz No 2. The delicious wines from the award winning Ormonde Wine Estate will be tasted.

And while you are being entertained at the Musical Wine Tasting Concert your kids can go off on a musical fun rally with flutist Dillon Peters as they learn to see with their eyes and their ears – sounds like great fun.

PIANO CONCERTO

On Saturday 13 February 2010 at 19:00 the show continues with a
Piano Concerto entitled "The Duel". Pianists Andreas Kern and Tertia Visser will perform and compete for your vote as they play pieces from Claude Debussy, Chopin, Bach, Schumann and Schubert.

THE DARLING MUSIC EXPERIENCE WORLD PREMIERE CONCERT

The grand finale and highlight of the four day event will be the premiere of "Clarinet Quintet No. 2: Dances of Moonlight", specially commissioned for tonight and written by brilliant young composer Matthijs van Dyk.
By popular demand this world premier will be followed by Hendrik Hofmeyr's "Song of the Summerwind" for flute and violin, last years commission. Among the musicians: Farida Bacharova, Maria du Toit and Owen Brits. Dancer Mamela Nyamza, will add a special facet to this extraordinary line-up.
