The Drostdy Museum in Uitenhage tracks the colourful and often violent history of Uitenhage and the surrounding districts.

Directions From

Humansdorp, Knysna and George

On the N2 toward Port Elizabeth and just after the van Staden’s Wild Flower Reserve take the R102 and R334 exit to van Staden’s Pass and Uitenhage. Once on R102  turn left onto the R334 to Uitenhage. This is called Witteklip Road. Continue for 19.5kms. On the way you will pass the Uitenhage Airfield on your right. After the 19.5km you will be in Cuyler Street. Continue on Cuyler Street until you reach Caledon Street. Turn right into Caledon Street. The Drostdy Museum is on your lrft a few blocks down at number 50 Caledon Street. The building is close to the road and there is no parking immediately outside, but a few metres down Caledon parking is more freely available.

From Port Elizabeth 

Take the R367 or the R75 to Uitenhage. Both merge into thr R75 Tofile St Double Carriageway. Continue on Tofile Street . Take the Union Ave R367 exit and turn left into Union Avenue. Continue for 4km on Union Avenue (which becomes Caledon Street at some stage). Continue along Caledon to the Museum which is a Cape Dutch style building at number 50 Caledon Street. There is parking opposite the museum, but not immediately in front as the building is very close to the road reserve.
