Cross Country Action Credits: Western Province Eventing
The Swellendam Canola Karnaval has arranged an eventing program for the weekend of 7th and 8th August 2010.
The program for the eventing, under the auspices of Western Province Eventing is as follows:-

Dressage on the Saturday morning at 09h00.
The Show Jumping (follows on Saturday afternoon at 14h00
and on Sunday the Cross Country Event starts at 09h30.
The cross country stage of the event is definitely the highlight of the weekend, the riders have to complete
a 2km track over solid obstacles (eg logs, tables, milk wagons) at a very fast pace. They have a set time in which they need to complete the track or they incur time penalties. The competitor with the least penalties over the three stages (dressage, show jumping and cross country) of the event is the winner in each category, the final and deciding phase will be the cross country.
Bring a chair and your picnic basket and choose a jump and park off in the country side and
watch the horses come galloping by!
Entrance for spectators is free. Entries for horses is R380 and you can enter online at Appelsbosch or Western Province Eventing

On the N2 from Cape Town take the Bontebok National Park and
Swellengrebel airport turn off to your right,opposite the Swellendam
East turn off. Follow the dirt road for about 2km, turn left at the farm
gate just before the railway crossing.
