Hermanus - Abseiling For Beginners at Gearings Point

Hang In There
Hang In There Credits:

According to Percy Tours Spokesman – Percy Heywood, abseiling is a great sport that requires no previous training or even experience. But, says Percy, you had better then have a good company that “knows the ropes” so to speak.

The idea is to scare yourself stupid by dangling from a cliff face on a piece of rope. Much worse than bungee jumping, which is over in a few seconds. You also hope that someone at the top gets all of this on camera, otherwise what’s the point?

You need a rope, lots of it, a harness to attach you to the rope, and a stopping device.   Percy Tours provide all this gear, the instructor and the large vertical cliff face. All you need do is practice the following response to the question “what are you doing?” Answer “Just hanging around”, and remember, it’s not what you say, but how you say it.

To make the whole exercise much more interesting Percy recommends the Hermanus Old Harbour at Gearings Point which is a perfect spot for learning the art of abseiling, as it’s not too high (about 20 metres) and has marvelous views across Walker Bay and between June and November there will be Southern Right Whales splashing about too!

Johannesburg Zoo - Photographic Tours June 2010

The Johannesburg Zoo runs some very interesting early morning Sunrise photographic tours as well as Sunset PhotographicTours in the afternoon.

The photographic tours at Johannesburg Zoo are very popular and you need to book in advance. Entrance fee is around R75 per person and you will be told where to meet so that you get early access to the Zoo.

Johannesburg – The Zoo has a kid’s world cup program June 2010.

Johannesburg – The Zoo has a kid’s world cup program June 2010.

Johannesburg Zoo has set up a huge array of events aimed at amusing, entertaining and educating children during the world cup soccer. So instead of hanging around getting bored toss them all into the car, pack a picnic lunch – cold chicken, bread rolls, hot dogs, lots of tomato sauce, cold drinks, sweets and I suppose celery sticks and unsweetened yoghurt and stuff and take the zoo to the zoo.

Cape Town - See The Egg Man at Green Market Square

The Egg Man has become a symbol of the uniqueness and deep Joie de vivre of the African Continent. The Egg Man, who is based in Cape Town is seen at many of the festivals, fairs and events around South Africa. Tourists from around the world can’t enough of The Egg Man, this larger than life character, who prowls the streets in his African dress and huge egg hats. Some weigh up to 25 kg yet he manages to walk the streets day in and day out without mishap.

Canopy Touring in South Africa

The concept of canopy touring developed in South America from a need by scientists to study natural forests from a different perspective. It has quickly been modified into a fantastic sport that most people can participate in. At the same time it's environmentally friendly and educational.

Canopy Touring is also an ideal team building activity ideal for smaller groups of like minded people.
