In the heart of the Garden Route this popular tourist attraction has sea, mountain, lakes and forests – what more could you desire. Experience the mystery of the forests atop a horse or relax at the beach. There are many things to do to keep you occupied and loving it all the way.
Activities

Brackenhill Waterfall – Surrounded by forest, this waterfall flowing from the Noetzie River is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Buffalo Valley Game Farm – On the way to Buffalo Bay, this farm is not to be missed.

Knysna Forest – This forest offers hiking, biking and viewpoints but scenic drives, picnics and the last of Knysna elephants. Contact the forestry department, Tel 044 382 5466

Knysna Heads – Massive sandstone cliffs guarding the entrance to the lagoon, offering amazing views.

Knysna Lagoon – This lagoon is perfect for fishing, scuba diving, canoeing, swimming, snorkelling and boating.

Knysna Lagoon Cruises – Daily cruises take place; the cruises go further out to sea for scuba diving and deep sea fishing for the young and young at heart.

Knysna Quays Waterfront – A haven of shops and restaurants.

Mitchell’s Brewery – Daily tours are taken around the brewery.

  • Angling Museum – This is the only museum of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, with display of fly-fishing, hooks and reels. Old Goal, Knysna
  • Belvidere and St George’s Churches – This beautiful picturesque church, is built from stone and wood, and has lovely stained glass windows.
  • George Rex’s Grave – The founder, George Rex, remains are found down a stone walled enclosure.
  • Indigenous Wood Furniture – Tours are taken around a furniture factory every Friday.
  • Knysna Museum – Explore the town’s rich culture and history.
  • Millwood Goldfields – Get a glimpse of the past gold rush in 1885 by looking at the museum, graveyard and old mine shafts.
  • Noetzie – An area within Knysna that resembles castles and is visible from the beach.
