Muizenberg on the False Bay Coast has a long sandy beach with safe bathing areas and offer families a lovely place to relax during holidays. It also offers a children’s amusement park, many accommodation facilities and a cluster of pools. The beach is well known for its Victorian style changing booths.

The amusement park has water slides, putt-putt and much more.

 Het Posthuys – Built for the Dutch East India Company in the late 18th century, as a series of customs houses. It is believed to be the oldest structure in False Bay, it houses the exhibition of the Battle of Muizenberg. Tel 021 788 7972. Main Road, Muizenberg.

 Josephine Mill – Built in 1840, this is Cape Town’s only watermill that is still operational. Tel 021 686 4939

 Natale Labia Museum – This magnificent former residence, is now the satellite of the National Gallery, it houses permanent and temporary collections. 192 Main Road. Tel 021 788 4106 Open Tuesdays to Sunday – 09.30 to 16.30.

Rhodes Cottage – This was originally Cecil John Rhodes seaside cottage. It now contains his personal memorabilia, furniture and much more. Main Road. Tel 021 788 1816 Open Tuesday to Sunday – 09.30 to 16.30

 Rondvlei Bird Reserve – The observation towers gives birdwatchers opportunities to view a variety of the Cape birds; one is able to look out through the telescopes for a better view. Also Carp fishing available and hippopotamus to watch. Off Prince George Drive. Tel 021 706 2404

 SA Police Museum – This display has the region’s first police post and also displays the remnants and pictures of the Battle of Muizenberg. Tel 021 788 7035.

 The Old Magistrate’s Court and Carnegie Library – This is a recreation of the cells, single quarters, court and charge office etc. Monday to Friday – 07.30 to 15.30. Saturday 09.00 to 13.00. Sunday 14.00 to 17.00.

The Post Office – This was the first Post Office in South Africa to receive mail by air. The building was completed in 1911, and the original tiles depict the Battle of Muizenberg. Main Road, Muizenberg.

The Railway Station – A fine example of Edwardian architecture, though construction started in 1912 it was only officially opened on 7 June 1913. Main Road, Muizenberg.
