Clarens - White Water Rafting

Through and Out
Through and Out Credits: Clarens Xtreme

Clarens Xtreme offers an amazing white water rafting experience on the Ash River. White water rafting is an exhilarating sport that most fairly active people can participate in. White water rafting is extremely eco friendly as there is no pollution from watercraft, and with proper control exercised by operators, the only thing that should remain, long after you have been down the river, are your memories.

The White water rafting course comprises 17 rapids of grade 3 and 4 levels on the Ash River, amongst the most scenic route you can imagine,

with sandstone mountains and cliff faces all around, lush vegetation and many species of birds. White water rafting is a great way for family, friends or corporate groups, from young to old to enjoy the beautiful Free State Highlands. Experienced guides will lead you down the pristine waters to your destination.

Getting There

From Johannesburg the easiest way (but a little longer) is to go via Harrismith on the N3. You can take the Warden Street exit (near the Wimpy at Harrismith) and drive into Harrismith on Warden Street. Turn right into Piet Retief, Left into Mc Kechnie and then right into Cloete. This will take you to the N5.

Turn right and go towards Bethlehem. Alternatively you can bypass Harrismith and pick up the N5 on the Durban side of Harrismith.

Just before Bethlehem turn left onto the R711 to Clarens.

Clarens Xtreme is at 530 Sias Oosthuizen Street which is the service road next to the R711 as you enter Clarens. They also do Abseiling, Archery, Paintball, and Quad biking.
