Durban - Dissect a Shark
One of the events, held at 09:00 and 14:00 on Tuesdays to Thursdays is a 25 minute audio-visual presentation on the day to day work done by the Kwa Zulu Natal Sharks Board as well as on the important role sharks and other animals play in the marine ecosystem.
This is followed by a 20 minute dissection of a shark which provides the unique opportunity to see (and smell!!) the internal machinery of one
of the ocean's most awesome predators. The informative talk covers basic biology including feeding habits and reproduction and gives one the opportunity to learn more about these magnificent creatures.
Cost of these sessions is R30 for adults and less for learners.
The KZNSB also has a large display hall where exhibits of various sharks and other sea life are on display. Visit Fathoms Gift Shop while you're there.
