Langebaan - Boesmanland Plaaskombuis

Boesmanland is situated on the grounds of Club Mykonos in Langebaan, on the West Coast. This dining experience is something quite different as Boesmanland have perfected the art of cooking large quantities of food in giant cast iron pots. In the old days they were known as seeppots (soap pots).

Boesmanland specialises in old fashioned boerekos along the lines of Tamatie bredie, boontjie bredie, soet patats, roast lamb, snoek, pickled fish, fresh baked bread with real “plaas konfyt” as

well as a whole range of sweet stuff for afters, and pots of moerkoffie.

Just above the high tide mark Boesmanland has relocated from one side of the complex to the Langebaan side. They have managed to do this without losing any of its unique charm and character.

Two local minstrels, I forget their names, will entertain you with an incredible repertoire of songs from boeremusiek to the most modern. They perform with great enthusiasm going from table to table and really interact with their guests.

Tables are old Telkom and Eskom cable reels and seats are stumps of blue gum trees covered with horse blanket. This is not your sedate soft music venue, but if you want to experience real South African and let your hair down this is the place.

You have to book in advance as Boesmanland only cook for the booked. Call Boesmanland on 022 772 1564 or fax them on  088 022 772 1564, or visit Boesmanland online and see their menus, specials, rates and wedding venue offering.

To get there

From Cape Town take the R27 to Vredenburg. Take the Langebaan exit (left) at the Engen One Stop Service Station. After about 8km, watch out for the Club Mykonos sign to your right. Follow the road (which has a couple of 90° bends) until you get to Club Mykonos. Drive in and follow Boesmanland signs past the casino into the big parking lot and then go right and down to Boesmanland.
