Swellendam Canola Karnaval Mountain Bike Challenge August 2010

The Canola Karnaval in Swellendam on 6th to 8th August 2010 is
staging three Mountain Bike Challenges on Saturday 7th August.

Challenge 1 Starts at 10:00 Distance 52 km.
The route is a circular one through the Marloth Park Nature Reserve,including parts of the Bontebok National Park. No part of the route is ridden twice and experienced riders will travel on gravel roads, Jeep tracksand around 3km of amazing single track in the Forest. This isa semi technical challenge and is for fit and more experienced riders.
Challenge 2 Starts at 10:15 Distance 25 km.
This challenge also covers spectacular terrain and involves some
serious climbing. It is a lot easier than the 52km ride but not
recommended for the unfit and inexperienced.

Uniondale - Cape Pioneer Trek MTB Race Oct 2010

The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek is scheduled for 6 days starting on 18th and ending on 23rd October 2010. This Mountain Bike Stage Race will be partly in the Klein Karoo and partly on the Garden Route.

The exact route of the Cape Pioneer Trek will only be announced on 31st May 2010.

 The Cape Pioneer Trek is limited to 250 teams of 2 riders each who will challenge their own skill at conquering the route designed by legendary explorer Katot Meyer.

Cape Argus MTB Challenge March 2010 Stellenbosch

The annual Lifecycle week kicks off on Saturday 6th March with the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge at Boschendal Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch/Franschhoek area.

On the Saturday riders can do either a 13km race or a longer more strenuous 26km event.

On Sunday 7th March there are again two options. The first is a shorter challenge of 33km and the second a longer one of 55km.

If you are between the age of 6 and 12 then make a date to be at Youngsfield Military Base on Saturday 13th March 2010.

The Argus Pick n Pay Junior Tour will have two courses for you to choose from. A 5km race and a 10km race. When the race is over there will be plenty of entertainment and food stalls so make sure you dont miss this one.

There is also a tricycle tour for the under sixes.

Great news for parents of kids under 6 is that the annual Cape Argus Pick n Pay Tricycle Tour will be held the day before the big Argus race day. Saturday 13th March is set to be a day full of fun in the sun down at the Youngsfield Military base in Wynberg.

The route for the little ones is 1.5 km . It's flat and Ma can go with! After the tour there will be stacks of entertainment and plenty by way of food and drink. There is also a junior cycle tour on the same day, however the website for the junior tour is not operational.
