Description

Tucked away in the Overberg Mountains outside Caledon, Black Eagle Villa and Lodge offer a tranquil farm-style retreat just 90 minutes from Cape Town. Revive your soul, surrounded by nature, from the privacy of beautiful self-catering mountain lodges, spaced nearly a kilometre apart.

Awake to the call of the sugarbird and unwind on an expansive verandah, overlooking a spring-water dam and rolling wheat fields. Count the stars with the kids and teach them to fly-fish, spot a black eagle or collect frogs.

Offering respite from busy schedules, Black Eagle Villa and Lodge are ideally suited to a holiday of total relaxation, whether it‘s pedaling the road or reading a bestseller. Reconnect with family and loved ones as you take in the beauty of nature and explore the activities of this working farm.

Totally secluded from the world yet positioned centrally, one can comfortably explore the surrounding areas of the Western Capes‘ Overberg – from Gansbaai and Hermanus to Greyton. Savour the wines of the highly rated Hemel–en–Aarde and Botriver region or float in the famous natural hot springs in Caledon, a mere 20 minutes away. The choices are endless, as are the spectacular views.

From fly-fishing to hiking, bird watching to swimming, Black Eagle offers a host of activities to suit the whole family. Children will relish the outdoor environment, discovering frogs and abundant bird and insect life in the beautiful surrounds. The whole family will enjoy exposure to diverse farm activities, from fruit picking to sheep shearing and wheat harvesting. In summer, guests can cool off in fresh spring water and in winter, evenings are spent around blazing log fires.

Hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and trout fishing are available on the farm itself, and the farm is ideally situated between the Botriver and Hemel-en-Aarde Valley wine routes. The Caledon Casino and Spa is only 15 minutes away and it's a short 40-minute drive to the beachside whale-watching town of Hermanus.
