Our cottages are located on a farm situated in the heart of the Dargle valley and conservancy area and offer an unforgettable experience along the Midlands Meander.
With it's 90 hectares of indigenous mist-belt forest and 30 hectares of untouched veld above the bush, the cottages offer wonderfully scenic self-guided walks in the forest ranging from an easy 20 minutes stroll to an all day hike up to the top where you are rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views of the valleys and the Drakensberg mountains. Over 200 species of birds have been recorded on the farm. Close by is a dam and wetland area which supports many varieties of birds including crowned cranes and spur winged geese. For those who like to walk, there are several well marked trails through the bush lasting from half an hour to half a day. With two cottages situated on the edge of the forest and bush, it is the ideal retreat for relaxation. Sip a sundowner on your cottage verandah overlooking fantastic views of the surrounding hills and listen to the sounds of Africa and the bush. There is a 2-bedroom cottage with two en-suite rooms and a large open-plan kitchen and dining area. It stands almost in the forest and has a covered deck at the front. The second cottage has one en-suite bedroom and a kitchen/dining area all in one. The tiled patio is a wonderful place to see the birds and butterflies. The third cottage has one and a half bedrooms, the bedroom is L-shaped and has an extra bed around the corner. All cottages have open fires and under-floor heating for the colder months. There is a D.S.T.V. in each cottage with a video recorder and a small video library for those rainy days. The kitchens are fully equipped and the cottages are serviced daily. Although the cottages are self-catering, it is possible to leave a meal for you in your fridge if you are arriving late. A laundry service is available on request. With prior arrangement we can offer fax, e-mail and internet broadband facilities from the farmhouse. Cottages are serviced daily.
