Dating back to 1950, the town of Sasolburg originated around the first petrol-from-coal plant the world has ever seen. Since then a sprawling, but well-planned and modern town grew around a fast developing industrial complex headed by the Sasol Company. Today it is a global petro-chemical giant listed inter alia on the New York Stock Exchange. This brief background is necessary to see the guest house and Conference Centre, as situated at Sasolburg, in perspective.

The owner worked for Sasol for 32 years, while his wife, was a staff trainer and a teacher at Sasol Mining. In 1996, with their children having left home, the couple turned their house at into a guesthouse with four bedrooms. That is how the guest house started.

Now the guest house consists of three adjacent houses construction-wise interlinked to make up a guesthouse and conference facility disposing of 17 luxury en suite bedrooms and five fully equipped conference rooms. Convenience essentials such as telephones and modem line connections in every room and M-Net are some of the further facilitating features.

Sasolburg is situated one kilometer from the Vaal River on the Free State side.
This Guest House & Conference Centre is only one hour's drive from Johannesburg International Airport and 10 minutes from the N1 highway between Gauteng and Cape Town. The guest house is also close to a golf course, a shooting range and a horse racing course; it is 7km from the Vaal River (boats, water skiing, fishing, etc.); and within walking distance of office complexes, medical facilities, a shopping centre, health gymnasiums and a variety of sporting facilities such as jogging and cycling routes.
